In short

Mr Thomas's Chop House was established in 1867 by Thomas & Sarah Studd, brother to Samuel Studd of Sam's Chop House. For over 150 years we have served the heart of Manchester with the very best of British food and drink. Though our owners are no longer the Studds, we are still an independent family business. And we love this city.

I’d like to welcome you back to a very different business.

When customers couldn’t come to the chop house, we started to take the chop house to them. We will continue to do so.

But I am so proud to be able to say that we can now re-open our beautiful old building… after being locked down for 15 weeks.

Tom’s has already survived the premature death of founding chef Thomas Studd (from, of all things, a lung disorder), two world wars, the global Spanish flu pandemic, the Great Depression, two terrorist bombs and the 3-year roadworks of the Trampocalypse.

The building was also closed for two years as it was rebuilt at the turn of the 20th century.

We now have to rebuild again.

Please visit us and help us to restore this small independent business to the heart of Manchester.

Thank you for your support
